Dervish makes stop at Thrasher Saturday

Straight from the West of Ireland, the award-winning band Dervish will begin its 2017 USA Tour in Wisconsin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday with a return to Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake. The band will bring its music filled with passionate vocals and dazzling instruments for a night of high-energy fun!

Dervish is long-established as one of the biggest names in Irish music internationally. The band is renowned for live performances which match dazzling sets of tunes with stunning interpretations of traditional songs. Their studio and live albums — 12 to date — make up one of the outstanding catalogs in Irish music. They are regular visitors to the U.S., where their concerts are often sold out; however, their fanbase stretches across several continents. They spend much of their time traveling across Europe and also have toured in Asia, South America and Australia.

Dervish was the first Irish band to play the world’s biggest music festival, Rock in Rio, performing to an estimated 250,000 people. They were chosen to travel with the Irish prime minister on a visit to China, and with the Irish president on overseas visits.

During the years, they’ve been on the same bill as artists such as James Brown, Neil Young, Sting and even Iron Maiden!

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the state of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. Generously sponsored by Norton’s Dry Dock.

Tickets for Dervish are only $25 and available at the Thrasher office, Horicon Bank (Green Lake); Webster’s Marketplace, Ripon Drug (Ripon); Twister (Princeton) or by calling 920-294-4279. Tickets also are available at thrasheroperahouse.com.
