The Irish group will perform at the Wisconsin Union Theater on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Fredric March Play Circle. Tickets can be purchased online, by calling (608) 265-ARTS (2787) or by visiting the Campus Arts Ticketing Box Office in Memorial Union or Vilas Hall. General public tickets are $25. University of Wisconsin-Madison Faculty and Staff tickets are $23. Tickets for Wisconsin Union Members and Non UW-Madison Students are $20. UW-Madison Student tickets (with ID) are $10. Dervish is named for the whirling, spinning, lively traditional Irish music that expresses the band’s colorful heritage. The group, which represented Ireland in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, was formed in 1989 and is made up of six members who play a range of instruments including the mandola, flute and accordion. Dervish’s performances include high energy tunes and inspiring, charming songs that bring audiences to their feet. Lead singer Cathy Jordan said to the New York Times, “We’re a very lively group. We go from joyous, uplifting dance tunes to more somber laments and quiet ballads, too. It’s right across the spectrum.” You’re sure to get a taste of Irish tradition at this show!
